Jimmy tripped over nothing (aka his own two feet) and landed right on the edge of our leather topped ottoman's wheel on the bottom. He caught the corner of his left eye and sliced it pretty good. He was fine within a few minutes then we realized it needed further attention. Meanwhile, he ate about 3 bites of his dinner.
So we got Jaxon situated with Will's brother and sister in law and we headed to the ER. It was around 9pm. They said "yep he's gonna need stitches" and "yep he'll need to be sedated" and "yep you'll have to wait 5 hours until he can be sedated since he ate dinner"
WHOA
5 hours?
They didn't start the IV process until around 1 am. He had 3 miserably failed attempts at the IV. That was the hardest part. Sheer torture for him. (and us) The nurses were supposedly the best at this but they sucked at it. He finally fell asleep with some oral sedation, then they were able to do the IV. Then, he had to have 1 1/2 times the normal med during the surgery because he was waking up. Pretty hard location for those stitches, even for an adult. He got 6 sitches on his eye lid, right by his eye lashes.
whew....
Then, an hour later, he had to be woken up to make sure he could drink without vomiting.
WHOA again
Bear!!!!! He was so cranky: crying/screaming/flailing/pissed off.
We got him in the car and he cried the whole way home then cried for 2 more hours at home. The kid finally passed out at 6am and daddy had to go to work and then brother woke up.
You can only imagine the next day. Goodness gracious.
Took us a week to recover.
But, as always..... I'm glad it wasn't worse.
next morning! swollen!
never too sick for a paci smile

Oh no!!! That looks soooo painful!! Bless his heart. Hope he's feeling better soon! (Happy birthday to him too!)
Oh my goodness! My heart breaks for little Jimmy. Poor guy, what a mess with the IV. I hate hospitals and I hate that the nurses had to stick him three times! Good gracious, isn't this what they do for a living?! Well I am glad that you got over it and are all the stronger for it.
